Many pets at our local shelter are waiting for new homes because they were obtained by people with unrealistic expectations of the time, effort, and money required to sustain a lifelong relationship with their pet. Animals at the Dothan Animal Shelter are just waiting for someone like you to give them a new home and the second chance they deserve. Remember, mature animals are often calm, well-behaved and already trained. They are ready-made family members just waiting for a new home to call their own. Please consider an older animal for your next companion!

When you adopt an animal through Save-A-Pet, you are agreeing to comply with the Alabama State Law that requires any animal adopted through an agency, whether public or private, be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption. Spaying and neutering is simply the only humane way to decrease animal homelessness. Because of this, Save-A-Pet will spay/neuter any animal adopted through our program at no cost to the adopter.
